About Us
Who was Guyasuta?
Born in 1724, Guyasuta is perfectly positioned to understand the emerging political landscape of America in the tumultuous eighteenth century. As a sachem of the vaunted Iroquois Confederacy, for nearly fifty years Guyasuta dedicated his life to the preservation and survival of Indian order in a rapidly changing world, whether it was on the battlefield, in the face of powerful imperial armies, or around a campfire negotiating with his French, British, and American counterparts. Guyasuta was present at many significant events in the century, including George Washington's expedition to Fort Le Boeuf, the Braddock disaster of 1755, Pontiac's Rebellion and the Battle of Bushy Run in 1763, and the Battle of Oriskany during the American Revolution. Guyasuta's involvement in the French and British wars and the American War for Independence were all motivated by a desire to retain relevance for Indian society. It was only upon the birth of the United States of America that Guyasuta finally laid his rifle down.- Brady Crytzer- Fallen Timbers, Battle of, Ohio, 1794
Who is Guyasuta Football?
Guyasuta Area Youth Football is a Non-Profit organization whose mission is to bring together the residents of our community to promote football and cheerleading and positive relationship skills, good sportsmanship and community pride.
We teach our football players and cheerleaders how to play as a team, build their self-esteem, and acquire the skills for sports as well as skills that they can take into the world.
GAFA is a member of the Allegheny Youth Football League (AYFL), and subscribes to its rules and regulations for the organization and management of youth football and cheerleading programs as well as the conduct of games among its ten member teams. We have also partnered with Jamie's Dream Team to create a league that will help teach the children entrepreneurial skills while engaging in their passion for football. Our goal is to inspire young athletes to leverage their talents to generate funds and fulfill dreams within their community while on the football field doing what they love. Through this innovative approach, we aim to foster a culture of generosity, creativity, and self-sustainability, enabling youth to make a positive impact by granting dreams to those in need.
